Review by Dave Campbell

New Order's self-titled album is a testament to the band's ability to evolve and stay relevant in the ever-changing music industry. The album features a mix of electronic and rock elements, with catchy hooks and infectious beats that are sure to get listeners moving.

Tracks like "Restless" and "Plastic" showcase the band's signature sound, with pulsing synths and driving basslines. Meanwhile, songs like "Tutti Frutti" and "People on the High Line" incorporate funk and disco influences, adding a new dimension to the album.

The lyrics on the album are introspective and contemplative, with themes of love, loss, and identity. Lead singer Bernard Sumner's vocals are haunting and emotional, adding depth to each track.

Notes

  • Early record label CDr of the Waiting For The Sirens' Call album titled simply 'Album'. Two 'premix' versions here include Jet's sparser drum-less intro and Turn's alternate percussion arrangement. Whilst many of the mixes match those on the retail release, demo song titles are used on the sleeve:
  • Track 1: Lordsy = Who's Joe?
  • Track 2: Road To Ruin = Hey Now What You Doing
  • Track 6: Pop 1 = Morning Night And Day
  • Track 7: Mini Disk 2 = Dracula's Castle
  • Track 8: Jet = Jetstream
  • Track 9: Fast Synth = Guilt Is A Useless Emotion
  • The back of the cardboard sleeves lists various "Restricted Release Terms" which warns the listener they are agreeing to by opening the seal. It also indicates the owner is solely responsible for any reproduction of audio from the disc. Each CDr features a unique name and code on the right-hand part of the disc face which is embedded in the audio as a digital watermark:
  • THIS CD IS WATERMARKED
  • All track identifier sections are traceable back to the original receiver
  • Do Not Make Unauthorised extractions or copies
