Review by Eldes Oliveira

Kirsty MacColl's album, "There's a Guy Works Down the Truck Stop Swears He's Elvis," is a delightful collection of songs that showcase her unique style and vocal range. With a mix of rockabilly, country, and pop influences, the album is a perfect representation of MacColl's versatility as an artist.

The album's title track, "There's a Guy Works Down the Truck Stop Swears He's Elvis," is a catchy, upbeat tune that sets the tone for the rest of the record. Other standout tracks include "Hard to Believe," a melancholic ballad with beautiful harmonies, and "Keep Your Hands Off My Baby," a rollicking rockabilly number that is sure to get listeners' toes tapping.

MacColl's songwriting is also on full display throughout the album. Her lyrics are clever and often humorous, as evidenced in tracks like "Don't Come the Cowboy with Me Sonny Jim!" and "The End of a Perfect Day." However, she also shows her ability to tackle more serious subjects in songs like "He Never Mentioned Love," a heartbreaking ballad about a relationship that has lost its spark.

Justice is often not served in this world, especially to the selfish, rich and powerful. Her murder was just one more low point in the often tragic history of Humanity. I pray that she may know how much she is missed, as is her wonderful singing gift.
