Topsy Part 2 es mi melodía de los años 60s. La escuchaba todos los días en un radio Philips entonces. La perdí de vista. Repasé desde los 50 y la encontré. Tengo 80 años y contando y la sigo gustando.
I had this record too. I was maybe 11 or 12 and I loved this. We were on the cusp of rock and roll, but with a dab of big band hangin on.
I learned to play drums listening to this when I was 11
This song got a lot of play on pop radio stations back in the day. Loved it then and love it now.
This song was released the same the Peter Gunn tv show debut. Cozy Cole's music would be plenty good background music for that tv show. Every time the show came on jazz music would be playing. Sometimes at the club where Gunn hangs out a jazz ensemble would be playing. I think that Cozy Cole and his style of music, and Big Band leader, Ray Anthony, who recorded his version of the Peter Gunn theme, are all fitting to the show. They go hand in hand. By the way, Mr. Anthony, congratulations for turning a century old as of January 20, 2022.
Awesome Big Band ensemble. Sounds like music you'd hear in those noir (crime drama) films of the late 50s. Pretty good background music for movies like that.
I'm 70 years old and grew up in the 50's and 60's this was one of those old tunes that stands the test of time. Still love it, always will.
This is just about the coolest thing that ever came along.
I was only 12 when this song came out and absolutely went crazy for it. Ran right out and bought the 45. Still love it.
Is it just me or is it really Dark for it's time. It has almost something ritual. Or it is just because I am stoned as f. Anyways: I could listen to it for hours.
More! Current musicians need to here more of this stuff, only to give them perspective about how they should approach the business. Any one player played everything, you learnt to improvise or got thrown out, and the feeling/soul/heart/passion was everything.
Loads of respect to all the players of that era.
Loads of respect to all the players of that era.
This song always conjures up a golden memory of a Halloween special I watched as a kid with skeletons dancing to it.
Dats real music , dem people’s gots does rhythms
I love it!
My mother used to love playing this "45" from her box of "babysitting money" records, especially after cleaning the house. It is a celebration of life set to drums, organs, and horns!
Love this!

I was a little child when I first heard this
What happened to the Hammond organ? Gone!
I loved hearing this number every time the late, great Jack Spector played it on his Saturday night show on WCBS-FM.
First record I ever owned...?
Música incrível!
Many artists in this time recorded their big hits as a teen or in their 20’s. Cozy Cole was 48 years old when he recorded this. Of course he started off early in the 1920’s and 1930’s and recorded until his death in 1981. This does sound like a song from the 1920’s or 1930’s.
This song makes me remember of the time I was playing roulette hitting the right number twice and won 280 euros!!
Topsy is cool
