Review by Ivo von Putzer Reibegg

The album "Complete Studio Masters" by Charlie Parker and Miles Davis is a true masterpiece that showcases the brilliance of two jazz legends. The collection comprises 37 tracks that were recorded between 1945 and 1953, and it is a must-have for any jazz enthusiast.

The album features some of the most iconic jazz compositions, including "Ko-Ko," "Now's the Time," and "Billie's Bounce." The tracks are a testament to the incredible musical chemistry between Parker and Davis, and their improvisations are simply breathtaking.

The sound quality of the album is outstanding, and the remastering has brought new life to these classic recordings. The listener can hear every nuance of the music, and the clarity of the instruments is remarkable.

American alto saxophonist, composer and bebop pioneer (b. August 29, 1920, Kansas City - d. March 12, 1955, New York City, aged 34). Widely considered to be one of the most influential of jazz saxophonists, jazz musicians, and indeed musicians in general. Also known as 'Bird' (a shortening of 'Yardbird', Parker acquired the nickname early in his career with many contradictory stories regarding the name's origin). Parker was an extremely fast virtuoso and introduced revolutionary harmonic ideas into jazz, including rapid passing chords, new variants of altered chords, and chord substitutions. Parker died on March 12, 1955 in the age of only 34 in the suite of his friend and patron Baroness Pannonica de Koenigswarter at the Stanhope Hotel in New York City. The official causes of death were lobar pneumonia and a bleeding ulcer, but Parker also had an advanced case of cirrhosis and had suffered a heart attack. The coroner who performed his autopsy mistakenly estimated Parker's 34-year-old body to be between 50 and 60 years of age.

What I wouldn’t give for some video of this performance. Not very likely (or practical) in a jazz club in the late 40’s, but wouldn’t it be nice.

Fck ''Jazz'' that is a slang term used by critics and racists, just like ''Punk Rock'' ''Those Punks''' ....''All that Jazz'' [noise] yet Mozart is ''Classical'' [beautiful] Fuck that. This Music was so innovative the mere meatheads at the time had to place it somewhere in a Bucket. Miles and the people he worked with were absolute pioneers and people today in 2022 need to teach our new generation that ART has no labels since it is timeless. When Miles passed many Music acclaimed Magazines and Artists never even acknowledged him, that's why he left Julliard. Because even institutions like that today are all about credentials and Money, just like the Music industry and that's why instrumental Music is dying and WILL die, all about Money and the feeble minded pop Music three chord melody commodity twerps that today make Music nothing else than entertainment than Art. Music Needs to Die and Miles in 1948 is already manifesting it's demise. This is like Bach, not entertainment but pure ART.

Considering how hard it is to play trumpet, Miles was just fine. I heard the fresh ideas, too. Haig on piano was tight.
